Anniversary weekend

We celebrated our first wedding anniversary on April 23rd, thinking back about the beautiful day we had spent together last year with all our family and friends, making it one of the most special days ever. We went out for a really nice dinner on Monday night in our favorite french restaurant, and decided to go on a little wellness trip the weekend after, to enjoy some time just the two of us together and to relax. The weather was amazing with sunshine and temperatures of 25 degrees. We stayed at a beautiful spa hotel in Friedrichsruhe, enjoying some nice spa treatments, being outside and good food.

A Rainy Day

With it raining outside I thought I would become a photo geek for the afternoon and do something I wanted to try, water droplet photography. Pretty pleased with the results for a first try. No special equipment, just camera and flash. Oh and some tripod scaffolding to hold the bag of water. Click on the photo or here to see the others!

Spring Walk

Spring has arrived and we went for a walk, the flowers are starting to arrive. Also it was Romy’s last day at work and she baked some awesome cakes… See more pictures here.

Jamies 1hr30min Meals IV

Valentines day so another recipe, this time it was back to 1hr 30 mins but only because I had to make the shortcrust pastry myself instead of buying the ready made cases, not available in Germany. Actually having never done this before it worked out pretty good! Food was nice and Romy did the table decorations, hence nice napkins!….pictures are here.

Jamies 1hr30min Meals III

Another day another recipe, this time got it down to about 1hr. Although forgetting to turn the oven on at the start was a mistake….pictures are here.

Great Ocean Road – Birds Eye View

When we were driving along the Great Ocean Road we could frequently observe helicopters circling through the air. To make this New Years Day a day to remember we decided to also take a tour to see the beautiful landscapes from above. So we stopped at one of the helicopter places and only had to wait for a very short time to hop on to the next helicopter. The tour took about 20min and it was just us two including the pilot of course, who also gave us as guided tour. It was a great feeling seeing everything from a birds eye perspective, a little bit like in a James Bond movie (ok, the speed of flying would have been a bit more spectacular, but it was still cool). Great Ocean Road

We left Port Fairy after a nice breakfast around noontime and continued our travel on the beautiful Great Ocean Road – starting into the new year 2012. It was a really windy day but with great sunshine. The coastline is just breathtaking and if time would allow you could really stop behind every single turn to enjoy great coastal views.

Port Fairy – New Years Eve

Port Fairy is normally a sleepy little holiday town at the coast, but for New Years Eve they had set up a whole day program with activities. So in the morning we signed up John for the Backwards Race, which he proudly participated in. Later we lay out at the beach, bringing in a bit of activity with a game of Boules. For the evening we had booked a really nice New Year’s Dinner at an Italian restaurant, having at the same time a great view at the street parade. Waiting for the New Year to come we mixed with the Port Fairy teenagers at the Fun Fair and watched the fireworks.
Happy New Year 2012! See the Port Fairy madness here.
